Description
RN Observation Unit
Location
- New Albany, Indiana
Schedule
- 3rd shift, 7p-7a
- 12-hour shifts
- 36 hours per week
Contract Length
- 13 weeks
Role Summary
- Provides direct patient care on the unit, including rounds, assessments, treatments, admissions, transfers, discharges, patient and family education, care coordination, and individualized treatment planning.
- Uses the nursing process, critical thinking, and evidence-based practice to assess patient needs, respond to changes in condition, and support a healing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Performs and documents comprehensive patient assessments.
- Prioritizes care for multiple patients and coordinates the plan of care.
- Delegates tasks appropriately and oversees team members’ patient care activities.
- Supports discharge planning and teaching in coordination with Case Management and others as needed.
- Participates in unit-based activities and quality improvement efforts, including patient satisfaction, falls, pressure ulcers, CAUTIs, and documentation audits.
Required Qualifications
- RN license
- Nursing experience in direct patient care within the observation unit setting
