ACLS, BLS (AHA), BronxCare Hospital Center - Grand Concourse Campus De-escalation Training, PALS ny license
Schedule
- Schedule is based on unit needs and staffing gaps
- No block scheduling
- Every other weekend
- Holiday rotation may be required
- No call or standby requirement
Floating
Travelers are among the first staff to float and may be assigned to adult or adolescent psychiatric areas, including inpatient psych, LRC, CPEP, and detox. Orientation will be provided for the different areas.
Adolescent Psych CPEP – Travel RN Opportunity
This is a great opportunity for an experienced Psych RN to work in a busy CPEP setting caring for both adult and adolescent psychiatric patients.
Position Details
- Department: Adolescent Psych CPEP
- Beds: 40 total beds serving adult and child/adolescent patients
- Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:6–12 depending on patient acuity
- Typical Volume: 15–45 patients per day
- Experience Required: At least 1 year of psychiatric nursing experience
- Previous medical/surgical, PCU, ICU, or other acute-care experience is preferred
- Previous ED experience is not required
Patient Population
Patients are primarily experiencing psychiatric and behavioral health conditions such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety, trauma, and other serious mental health concerns. Most patients are medically stable, while medically unstable patients are transferred to the appropriate hospital setting.
Key Skills
The ideal RN should be comfortable with:
- Psychiatric and behavioral health patients
- De-escalation and crisis management
- Restraint procedures
- Recognizing early signs of a behavioral crisis
- Remaining calm, patient, compassionate, and attentive in challenging situations
Medications & Clinical Duties
RNs administer primarily oral and IM psychiatric medications, including medications such as Haldol, Zyprexa, and Ativan. IV medication administration is not typically part of the role.
PCTs assist with blood draws, EKGs, patient observation, transportation, ADLs, searches, and other supportive duties.

- One crisis-management certification such as CPI, MOAB, Handle with Care, TRUST Training, or PMCS
