🫁 Travel Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) – NICU
Location: Richland, Washington
Start Date: September 7, 2026
Contract: 13 Weeks
Shift: Variable | 4×12-hour shifts
Day: 7:00 AM–7:00 PM
Night: 7:00 PM–7:00 AM

Take your respiratory therapy career to Richland, Washington, with a rewarding 13-week opportunity for an experienced Registered Respiratory Therapist specializing in neonatal critical care.
This role is an excellent fit for an RRT with strong Level III or Level IV NICU experience who is comfortable caring for critically ill neonates while also supporting other high-acuity patient populations.
NICU Level III or IV experience is a hard-stop requirement.
You'll work in a large, high-acuity healthcare environment with approximately 337 beds and a daily census of around 300, supported by a broad multidisciplinary team.
👶 NICU & Critical Care Experience
The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with:
- Level III or IV NICU
- Neonatal critical care
- High-risk deliveries
- Neonatal airway management
- Neonatal ventilation
- Adult critical care
- Neuro Trauma ICU
- Pediatric and adult respiratory care
- Emergency respiratory situations
Neuro Trauma ICU experience is also required.
🫁 Key Responsibilities
- Provide respiratory care to neonates, pediatric patients and adults
- Assist with high-risk deliveries
- Support neonatal intubation and airway management
- Manage CPAP, BiPAP and other non-invasive ventilation
- Assist with mechanical ventilation and weaning
- Troubleshoot high-pressure ventilator alarms
- Manage high-frequency ventilation
- Perform oxygen therapy and respiratory treatments
- Draw and interpret arterial blood gases
- Perform airway suctioning and pulmonary hygiene
- Assist with extubation and intubation
- Provide tracheostomy care and management
- Collect sputum specimens
- Administer inhaled respiratory medications and nitric oxide as applicable
- Support patients with ARDS, aspiration, pneumonia, cystic fibrosis and other complex respiratory conditions
- Operate and troubleshoot respiratory equipment
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses and other interdisciplinary healthcare professionals
- Respond rapidly and appropriately to emergency situations
🔬 NICU Equipment & Procedures
Experience with the following is highly desirable:
- Bunnell Jet Ventilation
- High-frequency jet ventilation
- High-frequency oscillatory ventilation
- Bubble CPAP
- Nasal CPAP / CPAP / BiPAP
- Pressure/volume ventilation
- Neonatal intubation assistance
- Umbilical blood gases
- Bag-mask ventilation
- ET tubes
- HFNC
- T-piece
- Trach collar
- Nitric oxide (iNO)
✅ Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of Respiratory Therapy experience
- Level III or IV NICU experience – HARD STOP
- Neuro Trauma ICU experience required
- Active Washington RRT license in hand
- RRT credential required
- BLS required
- NRP required
- PALS/ENPC and ACLS as applicable
- Strong neonatal respiratory care experience
- Epic experience required
- Ability to work effectively in a high-acuity environment
- Strong clinical judgment and critical-thinking skills
- Ability to float between internal departments as needed

📅 Schedule & Floating
This is a variable-shift position with 4×12-hour shifts.
While the department makes every effort to maintain consistency, all staff are considered variable-shift, including permanent employees. Agency clinicians will generally be kept on a consistent day or night schedule whenever possible, but the exact schedule may be confirmed approximately 1–2 weeks in advance.
- Day: 7:00 AM–7:00 PM
- Night: 7:00 PM–7:00 AM
- 4×12-hour shifts
- Every other weekend required
- No block scheduling
- No call requirement
- Internal floating between departments required
- Must demonstrate scheduling flexibility
