• Unit: Transitional Care Unit (TCU) / Tele + Rehab Float
• Beds: 32, but census has reportedly been capped around 21 since COVID.
• Shift: 10:30 PM–7:00 AM (Nights)
• Ratios:
  • TCU: 1:8–10
  • 2N/3N/4N: up to 1:6
  • Rehab: 1:3–5
• Floating: You may float to 2N, 3N, 4N, and rehab.
• Charge: They prefer someone with charge experience. The RN charge nurse may be responsible for all patients on the TCU.
• Support: On nights, typically 2 nurses when census is at the higher end, plus 1–2 aides depending on census.
• Patient population: Mostly post-acute/step-down patients, including orthopedic surgeries (especially knee/hip), wound care, IV antibiotics, and patients receiving scheduled therapy.
• Typical stay: About 14 days, with every patient requiring a skilled need.
• Environment: Licensed under LTC regulations, although it functions as a post-acute/step-down unit.
• Tele: The notes say Tele: no and Nurse's Read Strips: no.
• Vents/drips: None.
• Hospitalist: Yes.
• Pharmacy: 24/7.
• RT: Not 24/7.
• Scrubs: Navy.
• Weekend: Required.
• Holidays: Required.
• EMR: Meditech.
• Orientation: Floor-specific orientation is provided.

Important commitment requirement

This is the biggest administrative point: they require written confirmation within 24 hours that the clinician is fully committed and prepared to accept the assignment. After accepting, titers, background check, drug screen, and fingerprints must be completed within 3 business days.
