Job Description

Seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to provide care for patients undergoing routine GI endoscopy procedures, including colonoscopies and upper endoscopies. The RN will rotate through the pre-procedure, intra-procedure, and Phase 1/Phase 2 recovery areas, providing patient assessments, IV placement, moderate sedation, monitoring, education, and post-procedure care.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for colonoscopy and upper endoscopy procedures.
• Complete nursing assessments and review patient health history.
• Establish IV access and provide pre-procedure patient education.
• Monitor patients throughout procedures and administer moderate sedation under physician direction.
• Provide direct patient care throughout pre-op, intra-procedure, and recovery phases.
• Provide Phase 1 and Phase 2 recovery care.
• Monitor patients for complications and changes in condition.
• Assist CRNA during procedures requiring anesthesia.
• Maintain accurate and timely nursing documentation.
• Delegate appropriate tasks to unlicensed personnel and supervise delegated care.
• Maintain patient safety and report or address safety concerns.
• Collaborate with physicians, CRNAs, nurses, and other members of the GI/endoscopy team.
• Complete all required departmental competencies.

Requirements

• 2+ years of relevant nursing experience
• Endoscopy/GI experience required
• ASN required
• Active Illinois RN License
• BLS – AHA
• ACLS – AHA
• Experience with moderate sedation, IV insertion, patient assessment, and recovery care

Schedule

• Start Date: 10/05/2026
• Shift: Days
• 36 hours/week
• 4 × 9-hour shifts
• Rotating start times, typically between 6:30 AM and 8:00 AM
• Float requirement: Champaign Endoscopy Center and Digestive Health Department
