Pharmacy Technician

Position Summary

The Pharmacy Technician performs packaging, manipulative, repetitive, and other nondiscretionary tasks related to the preparation and dispensing of medications under the direct supervision and control of a pharmacist.

Key responsibilities include filling and delivering unit-dose medication cassettes from patient profiles to nursing units while following established pharmacy procedures, safety standards, and applicable regulations.

Schedule

• Shift: Variable
• Schedule: 4x10-hour shifts
• Shift Type: Day/Evening rotating
• Hours of Operation: 6:00 AM–9:00 PM
• Days of Week: Negotiable
• On-Call: Call may be required for pharmacists; arrangements may be negotiable

Required Experience

• 3+ years of hospital pharmacy experience – Required
• IV compounding experience – Required
• Epic experience – Required
• Experience working in a hospital pharmacy environment preferred

Education

• High School Diploma/GED or equivalent – Preferred
• Associate’s/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education and related experience – Preferred

Licenses & Certifications

• State Pharmacy Technician License – Required
  • Must be licensed in the applicable state of practice (CA or OR)
• Pharmacy Technician Board Certification – Preferred

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and package medications under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
• Fill unit-dose medication cassettes based on patient profiles.
• Deliver medication cassettes and other pharmacy supplies to nursing units.
• Assist with IV medication compounding according to established procedures.
• Accurately process medication orders and patient profiles using Epic.
• Follow pharmacy policies, medication safety procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Maintain accurate documentation and support efficient pharmacy operations.
