Description
- Position / Title: L&D - RN (Labor and Delivery / LDRP)
- Facility Name: Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula (CHOMP)
- Location: 23625 Holman Hwy, Monterey, CA 93940

- Target Start Date: 10/19/2026 (13-week contract)
- Shift Details: Nights (12-hour shifts: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM; 36 guaranteed hours per week)
What the Facility Wants (Requirements & Expectations)
Experience & Qualifications
- Experience Required: Minimum 3 years of recent L&D experience (outside of training) plus at least 3 prior travel assignments (no first-time travelers). Must have experience with LDRP or Mother/Baby Couplet Care (MBC) clearly detailed on the resume.
- License & Certifications: Active California RN license. Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and Advanced AWHONN (Advanced Fetal Monitoring). (S.T.A.B.L.E. is a plus).
- Charting System: Must be comfortable with Epic charting (must verify last time used upon submittal).
Clinical & Unit Overview
- Special Skills / Duties: Must be comfortable circulating AND scrubbing in the OR (scrubbing is specifically required for night shift). Must be able to manage the entire labor process independently (no midwives/midlevels on site).
- Unit Type: Level 1 birthing center (32 weeks and greater, twin deliveries; high-risk patients are transferred out). Approx. 100–105 births per month.
- Floating Requirements: Required to float across L&D, Postpartum, PACU (recovering mothers only), OR (circulating), Mother/Baby overflow, or act as a sitter if needed.
Strict Compliance & Facility Policies
- Nicotine / Cotinine Policy: CHOMP is a smoke-free facility. All drug screens must show a negative result for nicotine/cotinine. Prescribed nicotine patches require review; otherwise, a positive result leads to immediate cancellation.
- Scheduling & RTO: No blocked scheduling allowed. All RTO must be included at the time of submittal—no RTO will be approved post-presentation.

Cons
Lack benefits and perks other companies offer. Was incorrectly paid more than once. The assignment was the worst I’ve experienced from management down to housekeeping. They nitpick travelers on every level and give them double the respiratory therapist to patient ratio with every assignment spread over multiple floors and areas on every side of the facility. Staff makes no attempt at teamwork. Bottom line: Malone is ok🥴 but has MUCH room to improve. Elizabethtown, KY is awful and puts their patients and your license at risk every shift. Don’t do it!
