Unit Information: St Mark’s Labor and Delivery
Location: Salt Lake City, Utah
Address: 1200 E 3900 S, SLC UT 84124
General Information
Tell us about the unit(s):
· Number of Beds – 15 labor rooms, 3 bed triage bay, 2 ORs
· Number of Staff – 45
· Type of staff:
o Day Shift – 1 charge, 5 RN, 1 PCT/Scrub Tech, and 1 PCT/Clerk)
o Night Shift - 1 charge, 4 RN, 1 PCT/scrub Tech, 1 PCT/Clerk on some shifts.
· Patient Ratios – 1:1, early labor/antepartum/triage 1:2 or 1:3
· Type of equipment - Electronic fetal monitors, telemetry fetal monitoring, Monica Novii wireless fetal monitoring, Alaris IV pumps, Belmont rapid infusers, Ranger blood and fluid warming systems, vein finder device, Hugs infant security system, and maternal telemetry monitoring.
· EMR – Epic
Labor & Delivery RNs with a minimum of 2 years of recent L&D experience in an acute care hospital setting. Candidates should be comfortable independently managing laboring patients, high-risk pregnancies, induction and augmentation of labor, fetal monitoring, vaginal deliveries, and immediate postpartum care. Experience circulating cesarean sections and assisting with obstetric emergencies is preferred.
Required certifications include BLS, ACLS, NRP, and Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring (AWHONN preferred). Candidates should demonstrate strong assessment skills, excellent communication, teamwork, and the ability to adapt quickly to a fast-paced environment. Experience with electronic fetal monitoring systems and electronic medical records is expected.
Ideal travelers are flexible, patient-centered, capable of caring for multiple labor patients, and comfortable responding to obstetric emergencies while collaborating with physicians, midwives, anesthesia, NICU, and postpartum teams.
Preferred Experience: High-risk obstetrics, magnesium sulfate administration, insulin drips, multiple gestation pregnancies, preeclampsia management, shoulder dystocia , postpartum hemorrhage management, and cesarean sections.
Skill Set Most recruited for:
Must have: candidates without these skills will not be considered for the role.
· Minimum 2 years recent Labor & Delivery experience
· Experience with fetal monitoring interpretation
· Experience circulating Cesarean sections
· Management of high-risk OB patients and obstetric emergencies
· Epic EMR experience
Preferred or nice to have: candidates with these skills will be considered first.
· Experience with operative vaginal deliveries (vacuum/forceps)
· Antepartum patient care and management
· Experience with external cephalic versions and cerclages
· NICU or newborn stabilization experience
