UNIT: Intensive Care Unit

 

Required Certifications:
BLS
ACLS
NIHSS
PALS (preferred) 


Skills required:
Neuro and Trauma experience are an absolute must – EVD & ICP monitoring
Ventilator management, critical care drips, drain management, stroke experience, hemodynamic lines (A-lines/CVP), cardiac rhythm recognition, chest tubes, tracheostomy care, strong assessment skills
PICU experience (preferred but not required) – could float to this unit if experienced and there is a need 

Prefer Charge Nurse Experience

 

Patient Types:
Medical, Surgical, Trauma, Neuro, Ortho, Interventional patients
ICP monitoring, External Ventricular drain (EVD), spinal precautions, DKA, Multi system trauma patients, Sepsis, ARDS, COVID, PNA, COPD, Stroke


Patient Ratios:
1:2 – based on acuity (may get 3rd patient as one is being discharged or moved to the floor)

General Information:
Beds: 26 ICU; include some negative pressure rooms
Experience? 2 years minimum in ICU
First-time traveler? Yes

Charting System/Equipment:
Cerner (preferred experience)
Alaris
Pyxis

 

Floating:
To the Cardiac Care Unit (ICU) – will take patients within scope
Cardiac Stepdown or Medical Stepdown
PICU if they have Peds experience


Scrub Color: Any solid color, must be professional
Parking: Free parking in designated areas
