Description

NICU RN – Level III-B | Nights or Days Available

Contract: 16–18 weeks
Shift: 12-hour Nights or Days
Weekends: Every other weekend
Holidays: Major holiday rotation required
Local Candidates: Not accepted within 50 miles
Interview: ITO will interview

Contract / Orientation Options

  • 8/31 orientation: 18 weeks | Ends 1/2/27
  • 9/14 orientation: 18 weeks | Ends 1/16/27
  • 9/28 orientation: 16 weeks | Ends 1/16/27

Unit Details

  • Level III-B NICU
  • 21 beds
  • Cares for infants as premature as 23 weeks
  • Typical ratio: 1:2–3
  • Ratios may change based on acuity and facility needs
  • May occasionally float within New Life or to nearby NICUs

Required Experience

  • 2.5–3 years NICU experience required
  • Must have hands-on experience with:
    • Body cooling
    • Ventilators
    • JET ventilation
    • Oscillators
  • Must be comfortable caring for unstable, acute and chronically ill neonatal patients
  • Arrhythmia testing is not required

Required Certifications

  • BLS
  • NRP

Preferred/Unit Skill: STABLE

 

Equipment / Clinical Skills

  • Medfusion pumps
  • PICC lines placed by trained RNs
  • Umbilical lines
  • Intubation performed by trained transport nurses
  • Body cooling
  • Giraffe Shuttle/incubator transport system
  • Conventional ventilators
  • JET ventilators
  • Oscillators
  • Neonatal resuscitation and stabilization

EMR

Epic experience preferred

 

Candidate Profile

Strong fit for an experienced high-acuity NICU RN who is confident managing extremely premature infants, ventilated neonates, cooling patients and advanced respiratory modalities including JET and oscillator ventilation. Must be comfortable with floating and every-other-weekend/major-holiday scheduling.
