  • Work Setting: Sleep Center
  • Shift: 3rd Shift / Nights
  • Schedule: Sunday, Monday & Tuesday
  • Hours: Approximately 8:00 PM–6:30 AM
  • Weekly Hours: 30 hours/week
  • Contract Duration: 13 weeks

  • BILH Former Employees: Must have been separated from BILH for 6+ months to be considered

Position Summary

The Polysomnography Technologist (Sleep Technologist) performs comprehensive overnight sleep studies under the general supervision of the Sleep Center Clinical Director. The technologist monitors and records multiple physiological parameters during sleep, including EEG, EOG, EMG, EKG, respiratory activity, and ventilation.

The role may also involve initiating CPAP/BiPAP therapy as ordered by a physician, evaluating sleep studies, troubleshooting equipment, identifying physiological abnormalities, and ensuring high-quality diagnostic recordings.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform overnight polysomnography (PSG) studies and Multiple Sleep Latency Tests (MSLT).
  • Monitor and record EEG, EOG, EMG, EKG, ventilation, respiratory events, and other physiological parameters.
  • Maintain study quality assurance within the expected 90–100% range.
  • Perform CPAP/BiPAP titration according to physician orders and established protocols.
  • Administer oxygen therapy independently or in conjunction with CPAP/BiPAP.
  • Recognize and appropriately respond to cardiac dysrhythmias, respiratory events, seizures, and other physiological abnormalities.
  • Troubleshoot faulty equipment and make appropriate adjustments to maintain ongoing studies.
  • Calibrate and evaluate equipment to ensure proper technical standards and high-quality recordings.
  • Recognize and eliminate artifacts affecting study quality.
  • Document abnormal clinical manifestations observed during testing.
  • Review patient medical records and referring physician documentation.
  • Obtain relevant patient history and complete sleep questionnaires.
  • Identify and document patient sleep/wake complaints.
  • Evaluate sleep studies during recording and prepare preliminary reports.
  • Maintain accurate and complete technical documentation.
  • Participate in departmental quality improvement activities.
  • Maintain current knowledge of sleep medicine procedures, technology, and best practices.
  • Attend sleep-related meetings and continuing education programs.
  • Follow all applicable department and facility policies, procedures, behavioral standards, and customer service expectations.
  • Complete mandatory education and competency requirements.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support department operations.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of Sleep Lab experience required
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • EPIC experience required
  • Demonstrated knowledge of overnight sleep studies and sleep lab procedures.
  • Ability to perform PSG and MSLT studies independently.
  • Ability to perform CPAP/BiPAP titration.
  • Ability to recognize and respond to significant cardiac, respiratory, and neurological events.
  • Strong equipment troubleshooting and technical skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Registered/credentialed Polysomnography Technologist preferred.
  • Candidates who are registry eligible may be considered.
  • Additional sleep medicine education or certification is a plus.

  • Candidates must have at least 1 year of Sleep Lab experience
  • Former BILH employees must have been separated from BILH for 6+ months before being considered.
