Description
Registered Nurse (RN) – Utilization Management (UM) | Travel Contract
Location: Marlinton, WV
Contract: 5 Weeks
Shift: Days | 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM (30-Minute Meal Break)
Guaranteed Hours: 36 Hours/Week
Pay Rate: $57.00/Hour
Mandatory Qualifications for This Job
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
- Minimum 1 year of recent acute inpatient hospital RN experience required.
- Previous Utilization Management (UM), Case Management, Care Coordination, or Utilization Review experience preferred.
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
- Strong knowledge of medical necessity, utilization review, discharge planning, and care coordination.
- Experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR/EMR) systems.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, case managers, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Perform utilization review and evaluate medical necessity for admissions and continued stays.
- Coordinate patient care, discharge planning, and resource utilization.
- Review clinical documentation for compliance with payer and regulatory guidelines.
- Communicate with physicians, case managers, and insurance providers regarding authorizations.
- Maintain accurate documentation in the EMR.
- Support quality improvement initiatives and ensure efficient patient care.
- Promote appropriate resource utilization while advocating for patient needs.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies and CMS/payer requirements.
