Location: Urbana, IL 61801

Job Title: RN UP – ED
Start Date: September 14, 2026
Contract: 13 Weeks
Schedule: 3 × 12-hour shifts
Hours: 36 hours/week
Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
Position Overview
Seeking an experienced Emergency Department Registered Nurse to provide high-quality care to patients presenting with a wide range of acute and emergent conditions. The RN will be responsible for comprehensive patient assessment, care planning, implementation of nursing interventions, ongoing evaluation, medication administration, documentation, and collaboration with providers and the interdisciplinary care team.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to patients in the Emergency Department.
- Perform comprehensive assessments and develop individualized plans of care.
- Implement and modify nursing interventions based on changes in patient condition.
- Administer medications and treatments and evaluate patient responses.
- Perform IV venipuncture and other ED-specific nursing procedures.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in EPIC.
- Monitor patients for changes in condition and respond appropriately to emergencies.
- Promote patient and staff safety and adhere to established safety standards.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, ancillary staff, patients, and families.
- Provide patient and family education and support.
- Participate in professional communication, problem-solving, and conflict management.
- Maintain departmental competencies and follow hospital policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of relevant nursing experience
- Emergency Department nursing experience required
- Illinois RN license in good standing
- BLS – AHA
- ACLS – AHA
- PALS – AHA
- EPIC experience required
- ASN required
- BSN preferred
Preferred Experience
- Trauma Level II or higher experience preferred
- TNCC highly preferred
- Experience caring for high-acuity and emergent patients
- Strong assessment, prioritization, critical-thinking, and rapid-response skills
Schedule Requirements
- 3 × 12-hour shifts
- 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
- 36 hours/week
- 2 call shifts per 6-week schedule period
- Call shifts are 13 hours, with expectation that the traveler can be onsite within 1 hour
- 2-week night rotation required for all travelers
- No block scheduling
