RN – Medical Surgical / Telemetry
Location: Omaha, NE 68105
Facility: Nebraska Medical Center
Contract: 13 or 26 Weeks
Hours: 36 or 48 Hours/Week
Shift: 3×12 Hours | Days/Nights
Patient Ratio: 1:5 Days / 1:6 Nights
Charting: Epic
Facility: Level I Trauma | Academic Medical Center
Local Candidates: Not accepted – must live 100+ miles away
Position Overview
Seeking an experienced MS/Tele RN for a high-acuity academic medical center. Travelers must be comfortable with frequent floating, including potential assignments at the sister Bellevue Medical Center, approximately 16 minutes from the main campus.
Requirements
- 2+ years of recent acute-care RN experience
- Recent Level I Trauma experience, preferably within the last year
- BLS required; ACLS strongly preferred
- Epic experience within the last 2 years, with strong proficiency
- Drip experience required
- Previous travel experience required
- First-time travelers not accepted
- Strong MS/Tele and cardiac telemetry experience
- LTAC, rehab, or nursing-home experience does not count as acute inpatient experience
- Pending license accepted; if not in hand at submission, booking will be approximately 6 weeks out
Required Clinical Skills
- Cardiac telemetry and monitoring
- Dysrhythmia recognition and management
- Rapid response/code team experience
- Cardiac drip management without titration
- IV therapy and peripheral line management
- Oxygen and non-invasive airway management
- Isolation precautions/PPE
- Acute-care medication management
Drip Experience Required
Candidates should have experience with:
- Nitro
- Heparin
- Insulin (non-DKA)
- Amiodarone
- Cardizem
- Argatroban
- Bivalirudin
- Lasix

Travelers may be assigned based on experience to:

- Cardiac/Telemetry

- PCU/Stepdown

- Solid Organ Transplant
- Observation
- Bellevue Medical Center MS/Telemetry
Schedule & Floating
- 3×12-hour shifts
- 36 or 48 hours/week options
- Days or nights
- Travelers are first to float and may float every shift
- May float between units and to Bellevue Medical Center
- Weekend requirement: 4 weekend shifts per 4 weeks
- Must work 2 of 3 major holiday periods
- RTO: Up to 2 weeks, submitted with application
