Job Description

The Radiologic Technologist I provides diagnostic and interventional imaging services in the hospital and cardiac catheterization laboratory. The technologist performs radiographic procedures safely and efficiently, assists physicians during invasive procedures, and provides table-side and scrub assistance as required.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic radiographic examinations by positioning patients, selecting appropriate technical factors, and operating imaging equipment.
• Provide portable X-ray services in patient rooms, operating rooms, and the emergency department.
• Assist physicians with cardiac catheterization and interventional procedures.
• Provide required table-side assistance during Cath Lab procedures.
• Perform scrub assistance and support the procedural team throughout cases.
• Demonstrate proficiency with the manifold system, which is a mandatory Cath Lab skill.
• Prepare and assist with radiopaque contrast media as directed by the physician.
• Maintain radiation safety by appropriately restricting and collimating the radiation beam.
• Assist patients with positioning, transferring, turning, and moving on and off imaging tables.
• Verify patient identification and accurately document and label imaging studies.
• Maintain imaging rooms, equipment, supplies, and work areas in an organized and safe condition.
• Complete required patient requisitions and imaging documentation.
• Maintain accurate patient records and assist with administrative duties when needed.
• Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, nurses, and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
• Modify patient care based on age, culture, language, developmental needs, and physical abilities.
• Follow hospital policies, radiation safety standards, infection-control practices, and organizational competencies.
• Provide calm, professional, and patient-centered care in a fast-paced Cath Lab environment.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
• Completion of required clinical and A.R.R.T. requirements.
• New Jersey State Radiologic Technologist License.
• Eligible for and able to meet National Registry requirements.
• AHA BLS required.
• ACLS required.
• RCIS required per schedule requirements.
• Minimum 1–2 years of radiologic technology experience; 3 years preferred.
• Cath Lab experience strongly required.
• Manifold system experience – Must Have.
• Scrub assist experience – Must Have.
• Table-side assistance experience – Must Have.
• Strong communication skills.
