Description

PCU Oncology RN – 5 North

Level I Trauma Center | Acute Care

Assignment Details

  • Specialty: PCU Oncology
  • Shift: 12-hour Nights, 6:30 PM–7:00 AM
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • Scheduling: Self-scheduling, balanced to unit needs
  • Experience: Minimum 1 year required
  • First-Time Travelers: Accepted
  • License to Submit: Yes
  • EMR: Epic
  • Orientation: 2 days of unit orientation

Unit

  • 18 beds
  • Adult Oncology PCU and Trauma PCU
  • Strong PCU experience is acceptable; Oncology experience preferred but not required

Ratios

  • Days: 1:4–1:5
  • Nights: 1:4–1:5

Required Certifications

  • AHA BLS
  • AHA ACLS

Preferred

  • ONS/ONCC certification
  • Chemotherapy certification
  • Oncology experience

Clinical Skills / Drips
Travelers should be comfortable with:

  • Insulin drips
  • Cardizem drips
  • Heparin
  • Protonix
  • Chemotherapy exposure
  • High-flow oxygen
  • Telemetry/PCU-level monitoring

Floating

  • Travelers may float to other Med/Surg and PCU units
  • Float assignments remain at an appropriate level of care

Equipment / Support

  • Epic EMR
  • Alaris IV pumps
  • Liko lifts and additional lift equipment
  • Nursing Assistants
  • Charge RN
  • PT/OT
  • RN Case Manager
  • Social Worker
  • Educator
  • Dietitian

Important Submission Rules

  • 50-mile radius rule
  • Driver’s license required at submission to verify permanent address/radius
  • Candidate may not currently work full-time, part-time, or PRN at any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility
  • Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient-care departments

Interview / Orientation Exam

  • Clinical interview + manager interview
  • RNs take an open-book Pass/Fail exam on Friday during orientation
  • Must score 90% or higher
  • All study resources are provided
  • Failure to pass results in termination

Cancellation Policy

  • Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment
  • Assignments under 13 weeks: up to 3 shifts

Recruiter Note: Strong PCU nurses are viable even without Oncology experience. Oncology and chemo experience are preferred advantages, not hard stops.
