Cardiac Sonographer (Ultrasound Tech) — La Crosse, WI
Assignment Details
- Shift: Mon–Fri, 7:15 AM–3:45 PM and/or 8:30 AM–5:00 PM
- Contract: 13 weeks
- Potential call (5:00 PM–7:00 AM), weeknights/weekends, based on department needs — 24-hour call availability with 30-minute response time required
Job Summary
Performs complete echocardiographic studies, integrating all cardiac echo imaging modalities to obtain pertinent patient data. Documents findings accurately in the Echo Information Management System.
Responsibilities
- Functions independently using critical thinking to obtain comprehensive echocardiograms
- Collaborates with Lead/Advanced Cardiac Sonographers, Echocardiographers, and physicians on interpretation of findings
- Assists with orientation, training, and education of trainees, students, and visitors
- Covers stress lab/stress echo procedures, outreach, on-call, weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed
- Cares for patients across the full age spectrum, neonate to geriatric
- Follows sterile procedure, isolation precaution, and radiation/infectious hazard safety protocols
Requirements
- Associate's degree or graduate of a CAAHEP-accredited sonography program
- RDCS (ARDMS) or RCS (CCI) required — RDCS specifically required by the hiring manager
- BLS required
- 2 years of experience required (per manager); 1 year preferred per posting, registry-eligible
- Adult and pediatric cardiac sonography experience, including transesophageal and stress echo; adult-to-geriatric, inpatient and outpatient experience preferred
