Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Special Education
- Active Illinois LBS1 certification
- Minimum of 1 year of special education teaching experience preferred
Role Overview
As a Resource Special Education Teacher, you will support elementary-aged students with diverse learning needs through individualized and small-group instruction. You will help implement IEP goals and provide support in areas including academics, behavior interventions, positive behavior supports, social skills development, and behavior management.
Key Responsibilities
- Accommodate, modify, and adapt lessons and curriculum to meet individual student needs and IEP goals
- Support the development and implementation of IEPs and participate in IEP meetings
- Provide individualized and small-group instruction
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for students' developmental needs
- Establish clear expectations for classroom behavior and utilize positive reinforcement and behavior modification strategies
- Assist with the development and implementation of Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs)
- Implement district curriculum in a way that maximizes student learning
- Supervise and evaluate students within the assigned caseload
