Job Details

  • Hours: 7:20 AM–2:10 PM

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Special Education
  • Active Illinois LBS1 certification
  • Minimum of 1 year of special education teaching experience preferred

Role Overview

As a Resource Special Education Teacher, you will support elementary-aged students with diverse learning needs through individualized and small-group instruction. You will help implement IEP goals and provide support in areas including academics, behavior interventions, positive behavior supports, social skills development, and behavior management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accommodate, modify, and adapt lessons and curriculum to meet individual student needs and IEP goals
  • Support the development and implementation of IEPs and participate in IEP meetings
  • Provide individualized and small-group instruction
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for students' developmental needs
  • Establish clear expectations for classroom behavior and utilize positive reinforcement and behavior modification strategies
  • Assist with the development and implementation of Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs)
  • Implement district curriculum in a way that maximizes student learning
  • Supervise and evaluate students within the assigned caseload
