Successful placements here have 3+ years exp, pervious travel exp. and have worked in a very busy hospital in the past.

# of Beds 12, SICU (6CA)
Nurse:Patient Ratios 1:2, 1:3 depending on downgrade/acuity/emergency admit (infrequent when staffed)
Required Certifications (i.e., BLS, ACLS?) BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
Common diagnoses/Types of patients Liver/kidney transplant, vascular surgeries like endardectomies and fem/pop bypass, ENT for cancer, facial flaps, throat cancer resection, complicated throat/esophageal infections that compromise airway, abdominal surgery like colectomy, ex-laps, abdominal aneursym, mastectomy, deep tissue flaps
Experience or 'Must have' skills early recognition of change in patient condition, clear communication and escalation with providers, critical thinking skills, CRRT, hemodynamic monitoring, chest tubes, ventilator, various drains/surgical sites
Are RNs required to titrate drips? yes
Common titratable &/or set rate drips vasopressin, epinephrine, levophed, heparin, dobutamine, dopamine, versed, hydromorphone, fentanyl, ketamine, nimbex, esmolol, cardene
Is there a Charge Nurse on each shift? Does the charge nurse take an assignment? yes; preference is free charge but depends on staffing, right now taking full assignment
Are there nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit? Ratios? Duties? intermittent, dependent on census, 1:12 when present. Patient ADL's, blood glucose checks, transport assist
Hospitalist &/or Intensivist in house 24/7? In the ICU 24/7? yes, intensivist on unit days and/or nights, APP's on unit 24/7
RT in ICU 24/7? yes
