Position Overview

Department: Med Surg Neuro (4th Floor North)
Unit Capacity: 25 Beds
Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:5–6

Requirements & Eligibility

Certifications: BLS (AHA), NIHSS
Radius Rule: Must reside 50+ miles from the facility (DL required at submittal).
Restrictions: Cannot be currently employed (FT, PT, or PRN) with any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health facility.

Clinical Profile

Common Diagnoses: Strokes, stable neurological deficits, post-neurosurgery, joint replacements, fractures, colon resections, COPD exacerbation, sepsis, GI bleeds.
Titratable Drips: Heparin, Lidocaine, Ketamine.

Scheduling & Unit Policies

Weekends: At least every other weekend (additional shifts based on unit census).
Holidays: 2–3 holidays required between Thanksgiving and New Year's.
Block Scheduling: Limited approvals based on unit availability.
Floating: Required to other Med Surg units or areas holding Med Surg overflow.
