🚫 Absolute Minimum Qualifications for Submission Review:
- Licensure Mandate: Active, unencumbered Connecticut (CT) State RN License in hand at submission.
- Experience Baseline: Minimum 2+ years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) or Intensive Care Unit (ICU) clinical experience.
- Mandatory Certifications: Active NIHSS Certification, AHA BLS, and AHA ACLS credentials required.
- EMR Requirement: Direct proficiency with Epic EMR platform.
- Clinical Skills: Demonstrated expertise in managing high-acuity dual-level care (PCU/ICU step-down), continuous cardiac monitoring, titratable vasoactive infusions, non-invasive ventilation, and acute neurological/stroke assessments.
Job Summary & Clinical Scope
A Hospital in Norwich, CT is seeking two experienced PCU/ICU RNs for a 12-week day-shift assignment on E3 PCU. E3 is a 25-bed multi-acuity dual-level of care unit managing telemetry, progressive care, and ICU step-down populations, as well as serving as a primary stroke center. Nurses must be comfortable cross-managing step-down and critical care patients across shifting acuity levels.
- Dual-Level Acuity Management: Deliver high-acuity bedside nursing care for complex step-down and ICU-level patients requiring close physiological monitoring, frequent assessments, and aggressive treatment plans.
- Stroke & Neurological Interventions: Perform targeted neurological assessments utilizing NIHSS protocols for a primary stroke center population; manage post-tPA/thrombolytic monitoring and acute neurovascular updates.
- Pharmacology & Vasoactive Drips: Titrate cardiac infusions, vasoactive agents, antiarrhythmics, insulin drips, and anticoagulation protocols per PCU/ICU standing guidelines.
- Advanced Airway & Continuous Monitoring: Manage patients on High-Flow Nasal Cannula, BiPAP/CPAP, tracheostomies, and continuous multi-lead telemetry monitoring.
- Interdisciplinary Care: Collaborate closely with attending intensivists, hospitalists, cardiologists, neurologists, and interprofessional teams to advance care plans and ensure safe outcomes.
