Respiratory Therapist

Position Overview

Provides basic and critical respiratory care services to adult and geriatric patients. Works effectively with minimal supervision and may supervise other staff as delegated. Provides respiratory therapy services to patients with respiratory conditions in accordance with physician orders, department policies, and established standards of care.

Responsible for completing patient documentation, electronic medical records (EMR), flow sheets, and charges for each patient encounter.

• Provides respiratory care to adult and geriatric patients
• Ability to work independently and supervise others as delegated

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent: Preferred
• Master’s Degree: Preferred
• 3 years of technical respiratory therapy experience: Preferred

Licenses & Certifications

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (NBRC-RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (NBRC-CRT): Required in California, Oregon, and Hawaii
• Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) License: Required in California
• Registered or Certified by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC): Required
• BLS or CPR certification: Required from an approved vendor per AH policy
• ACLS: Required
• NRP: Preferred
• PALS: Preferred
• PEARS: Preferred

Facility-Specific Certifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS): Required
• AHA-ACLS or ARC-ALS: Required
