Job Type: Full-Time, Local Contract (non-personal services)
Shift: Day shift, Monday - Friday (no weekends, no holidays worked - closed on Federal holidays); 30-40 one-hour sessions/week, normally 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM
Contract Length: 12-month base period, with up to four 12-month option periods
Pay: $28-$32/hour, depending on experience and certifications (local placement - no per diem or travel stipend; straight hourly rate, includes required H&W fringe)
Job Description
Bring your dental assisting skills to a federal healthcare setting with steady, predictable weekday hours and no nights, weekends, or holidays. We're hiring 2 Certified Dental Assistants to support the Health Services Unit at USP Lewisburg, working chair-side with the facility's staff Dentist across the full scope of general dentistry - oral surgery, operative, prosthetics, radiology, endodontics, and preventive care.
This is a full-time, on-site role with a consistent Monday - Friday schedule and a 12-month base contract with renewal options - a stable alternative to travel or per diem dental assisting, in a specialized correctional healthcare environment.
What You'll Do
• Assist chair-side across oral surgery, operative procedures, prosthetics, radiology, endodontics, and periodontics
• Prepare anesthetics, instruments, and sterile fields; handle sterilization/disinfection
• Take and develop intra-oral and extra-oral radiographs (bitewings, periapical, panorex)
• Fabricate custom trays, pour models, support minor denture repairs
• Chart intra-oral findings; provide oral hygiene instruction and preventive care
• Handle clinic clerical duties - scheduling, call-outs, supply ordering
What You'll Need
• Graduate of an accredited dental assistant program
• Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Radiology Certification + 1 year of dental radiology experience
• 18 months of Dental Assistant/Dental Hygienist experience, including 6 months current clinical experience
• Current CPR certification (Red Cross or AHA)
• Bilingual Spanish a plus; correctional experience a plus (not required)
• Must clear federal background investigation (NCIC, fingerprinting, urinalysis screening) before facility access
