RN – Medical/Adult Pediatrics (MAP) – Wausau, WI

Location: Wausau, WI
Contract: 13 weeks
Start: ASAP
Shift: 12-hour days, 7:00 AM–7:30 PM
Guaranteed Hours: 48 hours/week
Overtime: After 48 hours worked

Unit

MAP – Medical and Pediatrics Unit

Travel RNs assigned as Medical travelers do not take pediatric patients.

Ratios

• Days: 1:4–5
• Nights: 1:6–7

Common Adult Diagnoses

• Respiratory illnesses
• Stroke and neurological disorders
• Seizure disorders
• Multiple sclerosis
• Chronic back pain
• GI illnesses
• Diabetes management
• Renal failure
• Urinary tract disorders
• Sepsis
• Wound care
• Clotting disorders
• Infectious diseases
• Acute alcohol withdrawal

Requirements

• Active Wisconsin RN license
• AHA or ARC BLS
• 2+ years RN experience
• Epic experience required
• Associate Degree or Nursing Certificate required
• Level II Trauma experience highly preferred

Floating

Must be willing to float to all inpatient units as needed.

Weekends / Holidays

• Every other weekend
• Every other holiday

Low Census Policy

The contract is eligible for up to 36 hours of low-census, unbillable time during the assignment.

Low census may occur in hourly increments and is commonly done in 4-hour blocks. Travelers may occasionally be asked to work only 4 or 8 hours of a scheduled 12-hour shift. This is not considered on-call.

Orientation

Guaranteed hours do not apply during orientation week.

Guaranteed weekly hours also may not apply during holidays when the assigned unit is closed.

Flu / COVID Policy

During flu season, travelers who decline flu and COVID vaccination are required to wear a mask at all times. This is mandatory Aspirus policy with no exceptions.

Recruiter Notes: Strong Med/Surg opportunity with 48 guaranteed hours, 1:4–5 day ratios, Epic, and no pediatric assignment for Medical travelers. Candidate must be comfortable floating throughout inpatient units and with the facility’s low-census policy.
