EEG Technologist (Electroencephalography & Evoked Potentials)

Shift Matrix: Day Shift | 07:00 – 15:30 (Monday – Friday, 5x8-Hour Shifts)

- Travel Experience Hardstop: Prior travel experience is strictly required.
- Mandatory Certifications:
- Active R. EEG T. (Registered EEG Technologist - ABRET).
- Active R. EP T. (Registered Evoked Potential Technologist - ABRET).
- Active AHA BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
- Experience Baseline: Minimum 1+ year of direct patient care experience (3 to 5 years of dedicated EEG/EP lab experience strongly preferred).
- Candidate Eligibility & Local Policy:
- Accepts both Local and Travel candidates (50-mile radius rule applies).
Job Summary & Clinical Scope
Reporting to the Director of Cardio/Pulmonary/Neurology/Sleep Disorders, the EEG Technologist will independently perform electroencephalographic (EEG) and neurological testing procedures for inpatient and outpatient populations of all age groups at Emerson Hospital.
- Neurodiagnostic Testing Execution: Perform standard routine and sleep-deprived EEGs, Auditory Evoked Potentials (AEP), Visual Evoked Potentials (VEP), and Median-Tibial Somatosensory Evoked Potentials (SEP)—either as standalone diagnostics or as part of a "Full Battery" protocol.
- Patient Preparation & Education: Explain diagnostic procedures to patients and family members, apply scalp electrodes accurately using the international 10-20 system, and ensure patient comfort and safety throughout testing.
- Technical Analysis & Quality Control: Evaluate test recording quality, artifact identification, and equipment functionality to ensure clean, diagnostic-grade tracings for physician interpretation.
- Department Operations: Complete clerical tasks including study scheduling, procedure billing, report filing, and participating in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) initiatives.
