Guaranteed Hours: 36 or 48 hours/week

Requirements

• 2+ years of recent Adult ICU experience
• 2+ years of continuous MICU experience strongly required
• Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips
• Active Massachusetts RN license
• AHA BLS
• AHA ACLS

Unit Overview

20-bed Medical/Surgical ICU caring for a broad range of high-acuity adult patients. Attendings and residents are available in the ICU 24/7.

Common diagnoses include:

• Sepsis
• DKA
• Respiratory failure
• Cardiac arrest
• Cardiogenic shock
• Renal failure
• GI bleed
• Substance abuse / overdose
• Severe psychiatric conditions

Float Requirements

Floating is required, primarily to MedSurg units.

When floated:

• Typical assignment: 1:4–1:5
• Must be comfortable functioning in a MedSurg environment
• Telemetry competency remains required

Scheduling

• Night shift does not rotate
• Day-shift positions may rotate between 7A–7P, 11A–11P, and 7P–7A as needed
• Every other weekend

Facility

Salem Hospital is a 400+ bed community hospital with approximately 220 MedSurg beds in addition to ICU, maternity, and other specialty services.

Recruiter Notes

This is best suited for a true MICU RN, not someone with primarily mixed ICU experience. The strongest candidate will have 2+ continuous years in a busy adult MICU, strong telemetry interpretation, and be comfortable floating to MedSurg with assignments up to 1:5.
