1170673 Progressive Care Unit (PCU) RN – Night Shift

Position Summary Seeking a collaborative Registered Nurse for a 12-hour night shift contract on a high-acuity, 55-bed Progressive Care Unit (4th Floor East Wing) within a Level 1 Trauma facility.

EMR & Equipment: EPIC | Alaris Pumps | Mechanical Lifts
Dress Code: Navy Blue Scrubs

Key Responsibilities

Deliver direct care to adult PCU patients (rarely 15+); primary diagnoses include CVA, TIA, subdural hematoma, shortness of breath, weakness, and COVID-19.
Manage and titrate drips/medications including Cardizem, Insulin, and PCA pain management pumps.
Monitor telemetry and maintain proactive hourly rounding and responsiveness.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary support staff (Educators, Care Managers, Social Workers, PT/OT, Dietitians, and NAs).
Float to Med-Surg units as needed based on facility demand.

Candidate Requirements

Required Certifications: Active BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS.
Core Competencies: Telemetry proficiency, strong time management, and a team-oriented mindset.
Documentation: Driver's license required at submittal for address verification.

Facility Policies & Compliance Guidelines

Radius Rule: Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius. Ineligible: Current or recent full-time, part-time, or PRN employees of any facility associated with CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health.
Orientation Skills Exam: Must pass a Friday open-book skills exam during orientation with a 90% score or higher (failure results in immediate contract cancellation).
Fingernail Policy: Artificial nails are strictly prohibited in patient care areas. Refusal to remove nails will lead to termination.
