Registered Nurse – Acute Care Cardiac Telemetry (3 South Nights)

Shift Matrix: Night Shift | 18:45 – 07:15 (3x12-Hour Shifts)
- Schedule Quality: Night shift coverage; traveler core team expected to support unit stability.
- Floating Policy: First to float to General Med/Surg units as needed.
On-Call Requirement: None.

🚫 Absolute Minimum Qualifications & Unit Hardstops:
- Licensure Mandate: Active, unencumbered Texas (TX) State RN License or eNLC Compact RN License in hand at submission.
- Experience Baseline: Minimum 1+ year of dedicated Cardiac Telemetry or Intermediate Cardiac Care nursing experience.
- Preceptorship & Engagement Expectation: Unit is undergoing core team rebuilding; candidates must demonstrate high engagement and willingness to precept/mentor incoming new hires and RN Residents.
- Core Certifications Required: Active AHA BLS and AHA ACLS certifications.
- Clinical Skills Mandate: Verified competency in multi-lead telemetry, antiarrhythmic/Tikosyn protocol monitoring, post-structural heart procedure management (TAVR, Watchman, MitraClip), and cardiac catheterization recovery care.
Job Summary & Clinical Scope
A facility in Austin, TX is seeking five highly motivated, cardiac-trained Telemetry Registered Nurses for a 13-week night-shift contract on 3 South. 3 South is a 30-bed Acute Care Cardiovascular Telemetry Unit currently undergoing unit stabilization. Travelers will provide primary bedside care, maintain unit stability, and help precept new core hires and RN Residents.
- Cardiovascular & Telemetry Management: Provide direct care for acute cardiac admissions, including chest pain, heart failure (CHF/advanced HF), syncope, dysrhythmias, and post-cardiac cath/PCI recovery.
- Specialized Cardiac & Structural Heart Care: Direct continuous telemetry monitoring and specialized nursing management for complex cardiac interventions, including TAVR, Watchman, MitraClip, and Tikosyn antiarrhythmic initiations.
- Pharmacology & Rhythm Analysis: Titrate cardiovascular and antiarrhythmic IV infusions, analyze continuous ECG strip rhythms, evaluate lethal dysrhythmias, and execute prompt emergency cardiac protocols.
- Preceptorship & Leadership: Serve as a clinical mentor/preceptor for new core staff and graduate nurse residents to help rebuild unit operational workflows.
- Unit Overflow & Floating: Care for overflow general Med/Surg patients when needed and float to medical/surgical floors during census fluctuations.
