Regional Pharmacy Manager – Contract

Location: Newport, Oregon
Specialty: Management – Director of Pharmacy
Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: Days, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM
Schedule: Monday–Friday, no weekends
EMR: EPIC
Start Date: ASAP

Position Overview

Seeking an experienced Regional Pharmacy Manager/Director of Pharmacy to oversee the effective and efficient operation of assigned pharmacy departments. This position will be responsible for providing strong leadership, coordinating pharmacy services, managing departmental activities and costs, and ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality medication services.

The Pharmacy Manager will work closely with pharmacy staff, physicians, nurses, and other members of the healthcare team to optimize medication therapy and support positive patient outcomes.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day leadership, direction, and oversight for pharmacy department operations.
  • Plan, organize, coordinate, and evaluate pharmacy services and activities.
  • Maintain appropriate management controls to ensure efficient, effective, and high-quality pharmacy operations.
  • Supervise and support pharmacy employees while promoting professional standards and teamwork.
  • Monitor departmental performance, workflows, and operational costs.
  • Prepare and dispense medications safely and accurately.
  • Assess patients' clinical status and support appropriate medication therapy.
  • Provide clinical drug information and recommendations to physicians and other healthcare professionals.
  • Collaborate with the medical team to identify opportunities to improve medication use and patient outcomes.
  • Educate patients regarding medications, including appropriate use and safety.
  • Support compliance with applicable pharmacy, healthcare, and organizational standards.
  • Assist with resolving operational and clinical pharmacy issues.
  • Promote continuous improvement in pharmacy services and patient care.

Required Qualifications

  • Current, active, unencumbered Oregon Pharmacist License.
  • Leadership/management experience is required.
  • Minimum 2 years of pharmacist experience, or one of the following qualifying pathways:
    • ASHP-accredited PGY2 Health System Pharmacy Administration & Leadership Residency.
    • ASHP-accredited pharmacy practice residency plus 1 year of pharmacist experience.
    • 2 years of pharmacist experience.
    • 1 year of leadership experience + 1 year of pharmacist experience.
  • BLS and ACLS required.
  • Must successfully complete the required pre-employment/post-offer drug screen.
