First Connect Health has an immediate 13-week travel contract opening for an experienced Progressive Care / Critical Care Stepdown (CCST) Registered Nurse (RN) in Auburn, New York (Finger Lakes Region). Operating within the 9-bed intermediate care stepdown unit at Auburn Community Hospital, this position offers a balanced 3x12 daytime schedule (07:00 AM - 19:30 PM / 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM). 📅 SHIFT & POSITION DETAILS
- Schedule: Day shifts, 3x12-Hours (07:00 AM - 19:30 PM / 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM). Block scheduling is not offered.
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 regular hours guaranteed weekly.
- Weekend & Holiday Coverage: Every other weekend (EOW) and every other holiday (EOH) rotations.
- On-Call Requirements: Standby on-call rate is $8.00/hr ($116.76/hr call-back rate at 1.35x).
- Unit Acuity & Staffing: 9-bed specialized Stepdown unit with a daily census of ~9 and 1:4–5 nurse-to-patient staffing ratios. Diagnoses include CHF exacerbations, post-cardiac catheterization, post-vascular procedures, acute respiratory failure (BiPAP/CPAP/Vapotherm), CVA/acute stroke, and irregular cardiac dysrhythmias.
- Clinical Procedures & Core Skills: Management of radial TR bands, frequent neurovascular checks, titration of cardiac infusions, PICC/central line maintenance, blood product administration, chest tubes (PleurEvac/Emerson), and procedural sedation monitoring.
- Floating Scope: Float per facility operational needs.
- Systems: Allscripts/Paragon EMR (training provided) and Pyxis medication dispensing.
🚨 REQUISITE QUALIFICATIONS FOR SUBMISSION
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of recent clinical Stepdown, PCU, or IMC RN experience is required. Charge experience is preferred. First-time travelers considered based on clinical background.
- Licensure: Active New York State (NYS) RN License in hand OR proof of pending NY application (must provide date filed; clean license with zero hits/actions strictly required).
- Certifications Required: * American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS)
- AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Orientation Assessment: Must achieve $\ge$80% on a 15-question telemetry assessment on day 1 (evaluates heart blocks, arrhythmias, intervals, and interventions).
