Description

Job Title: Registered Nurse - Intermediate Care / Progressive Care (IMC RN)

Location: St. Luke's Hospital (Aspirus St. Luke’s), Duluth, Minnesota (915 E 1st St)

Compensation & Schedule Details

  • Hours & Shift: 36 guaranteed hours per week (12-hour variable shifts, Days and Nights)
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Target Start Date: September 28, 2026
  • Call & Low Census: Subject to low census and on-call rotation (call-back minimum is 2 hours). Eligible for up to 36 hours of low-census unbillable hours per contract.

Key Facility Policies & Floating Rules

  • Radius Rule: Strict 50-mile radius rule; contractors must live outside a 50-mile radius.
  • Winter Weather Preference: For winter start dates, candidates with demonstrated contract experience in colder climates (Midwest, Northeast, Mountain regions, etc.) are preferred for weather reliability.
  • Floating & Duties: Required to float to other inpatient units. Patient ratios are typically 1:4–5 on days and 1:5–6 on nights. May occasionally act as a 1:1 sitter or "helping hands." Shared unit responsibility for call lights and alarms.
  • Scheduling: Every other weekend or less depending on unit needs; holiday assignments per rotation.
  • Dress Code: Royal blue scrubs.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum 1 year of IMC/PCU experience required. Complex medical patient population (ETOH, CVA, Sepsis, wound care, wound vacs, IV starts, neuro assessments).
  • Licensure: Active Minnesota (MN) RN license in hand at submission.
  • Certifications: AHA or ARC BLS and ACLS, plus NIHSS required.
  • Charting: Epic charting experience preferred.

Th recruiters are super nice and helpful.

Cons

Lack benefits and perks other companies offer. Was incorrectly paid more than once. The assignment was the worst I’ve experienced from management down to housekeeping. They nitpick travelers on every level and give them double the respiratory therapist to patient ratio with every assignment spread over multiple floors and areas on every side of the facility. Staff makes no attempt at teamwork. Bottom line: Malone is ok🥴 but has MUCH room to improve. Elizabethtown, KY is awful and puts their patients and your license at risk every shift. Don’t do it!
