Senior Clinical Laboratory Scientist (Senior CLS / Lead CLS)
Position Overview
The Senior Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) serves as a technical consultant and direct supervisor for laboratory personnel while overseeing the performance and quality of laboratory testing. This role provides leadership within the laboratory, ensures compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards, and supports safe, efficient laboratory operations.

Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a technical consultant and direct supervisor for laboratory personnel.
- Oversee and manage the performance of all laboratory testing within the assigned department.
- Develop, implement, and maintain laboratory policies, standards, procedures, and quality control practices.
- Monitor laboratory safety, equipment, and maintenance requirements.
- Serve as a resource and working Medical Technologist/Clinical Laboratory Scientist within the assigned laboratory section.
- Ensure the laboratory meets all applicable accreditation, regulatory, and OSHA requirements.
- Provide technical guidance and support to laboratory staff.
- Monitor testing processes to ensure accuracy, quality, and compliance.
- Assist with maintaining a safe, efficient, and well-organized laboratory environment.
- Support continuous quality improvement and regulatory readiness.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Schedule & Requirements
- Shift: Day Shift
- Schedule: 4×10-hour shifts
- Hours: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
- Days: Consecutive
- Experience: 5 years preferred
- EPIC experience: Preferred
- Senior CLS / Lead CLS experience: Preferred
- UFCW represented position
Education & Work Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in one of the following required:
- Medical Technology
- Clinical Laboratory Science
- Biological Sciences
- Chemical Sciences
- Allied Health Technologies
- Equivalent education may be considered where applicable
- 5 years of clinical laboratory experience preferred.
- 2 years of leadership experience preferred.
Licenses & Certifications
- Valid Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) license in the state of employment
- Required in California
- Current certification from ASCP (American Society for Clinical Pathology) or NCA (National Credentialing Agency for Laboratory Personnel) preferred.
Ideal Candidate
- Strong clinical laboratory and technical leadership background.
- Previous Senior CLS, Lead CLS, or laboratory supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of laboratory quality control, safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Ability to supervise, mentor, and support laboratory personnel.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating with laboratory and healthcare teams.
