Unit: PCU

Experience:  1 year of PCU experience; will accept  first time traveler with strong experience

Certs Required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS

Skills Required:
Telemetry experience, CIWA, BiPAP, Central line maintenance/management, tube/drain management, cardiac rhythm interpretation, IV skills
Preferred: Chest tube management, trach care, home vent
Common Medication: Cardizem, Dopamine, heparin, nitro, Lasix, Dilaudid (comfort care/PCA)
If titrating constantly, will reconsider for ICU or patient reassignment

Floating: Will only float within Allenmore
ED Holding (all service levels within scope and below)
Overflow areas
No specific MS units
Travelers will float first

Patient Types:
MS/PCU non specialty unit, respiratory failure, sepsis, GIB, bariatric post op, diabetic, CHF, COPD, PNA, Acute SNF patients, TIA/Stroke rule out
Mixed acuity MS/PCU (You could have mixed acuity on shifts with both PCU and MS patients. )

Patient Ratios:
RN: 1:4-5 PCU
1:5 MS/MT
CNA: 1:10
BS check, vitals, toileting, bathing, feeding

Support on the Unit:
Charge nurse: free floating usually
Educator covers hospital during day
SWAT nurse- PICCs, take pt to procedures
RT 24/7
Hospitalist 24/7
OT, PT, ST (day shift only)
Phlebotomy
Charting System/Equipment:
EPIC (preferred)
Alaris
Pyxis

Support on the Unit:
Charge nurse: free floating usually
Educator covers hospital during day
SWAT nurse- PICCs, take pt to procedures
RT 24/7
Hospitalist 24/7
OT, PT, ST (day shift only)
Phlebotomy
