Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) to perform clinical laboratory testing and support diagnostic services in a healthcare environment. The Medical Laboratory Technician will be responsible for processing specimens, performing laboratory analyses, documenting results, and maintaining high standards of accuracy, quality, and patient safety.
 

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine clinical laboratory testing in accordance with established procedures and protocols.
  • Collect, receive, identify, label, and process patient specimens accurately.
  • Prepare blood, urine, tissue, and other clinical specimens for laboratory analysis.
  • Conduct testing in areas such as hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, microbiology, and immunology, as applicable.
  • Operate, calibrate, and perform routine maintenance on laboratory instruments and equipment.
  • Perform quality-control testing and monitor results to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Analyze and verify laboratory test results before reporting them.
  • Enter and maintain accurate patient and laboratory information in the laboratory information system.
  • Recognize abnormal, critical, or questionable results and follow established procedures for notification and documentation.
  • Troubleshoot basic instrument, specimen, and testing issues and escalate problems when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate laboratory records, logs, and documentation.
  • Follow established infection-control, safety, and biohazard procedures.
  • Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of specimens and laboratory materials.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment.
  • Collaborate with Medical Technologists, laboratory supervisors, nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Perform other laboratory-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or in a comparable clinical laboratory role.
  • Strong knowledge of clinical laboratory procedures, specimen processing, and laboratory testing.
  • Ability to accurately perform laboratory tests while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of laboratory quality-control and quality-assurance procedures.
  • Ability to operate laboratory equipment and follow established testing protocols.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a healthcare team.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical laboratory environment.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in a hospital, clinic, medical center, or other clinical laboratory setting.
  • Familiarity with hematology, chemistry, microbiology, urinalysis, and immunology testing.
  • Experience with laboratory information systems (LIS) and electronic documentation.
  • Knowledge of specimen collection, processing, and storage requirements.
  • Experience performing and documenting quality-control procedures.
  • Ability to identify and troubleshoot routine laboratory equipment issues.
  • Strong commitment to accuracy, patient safety, and regulatory compliance.

The technician must demonstrate professionalism, reliability, accuracy, and a strong commitment to patient care and laboratory quality.
