Histotechnician (Direct Hire)

Location: White Plains, NY

Facility Type: Acute Care Hospital

Shift: Evenings (Days vary) | 37.5 hrs/week

Pay Rate: $32.51 – $48.76 / hr (Based on experience)

Role Overview:

A leading hospital in White Plains, NY is seeking a full-time, direct-hire Histotechnician to join their pathology laboratory team. You will handle routine and complex histology procedures - including embedding, tissue sectioning, routine H&E staining, special stains, and immunohistochemistry (IHC) - to produce quality pathology slides for pathologist review.

Requirements

• Licensure: Active New York State (NYS) Clinical Laboratory Technician, NYS Histotechnician, or NYS Pathologist Assistant (PA) license (Required).
• Experience: Minimum 1+ year of hospital-based histology laboratory experience.
• Certification: ASCP (HT / HTL) certification strongly preferred.
• Education: Degree in Medical Technology, Histotechnology, or related clinical science adhering to NYS Office of Professions/CLIA standards.
• Health Compliance: Flu vaccination mandatory (No exemptions accepted).

Core Responsibilities

• Perform tissue embedding, microtomy/sectioning, and slide preparation following strict clinical protocols.
• Execute daily H&E routine stains, special stains, and IHC stains; evaluate slide quality and consistency prior to pathologist release.
• Conduct and document daily quality control (QC), preventative equipment maintenance, and reagent/lot tracking.
• Maintain compliance and inspection readiness in accordance with CAP, NYSDOH, AABB, and Joint Commission standards.
