Position Overview

Mercy Hospital South is seeking an experienced MRI Technologist to perform specialized MRI procedures and provide the patient care required throughout the imaging process. The technologist will apply MRI safety principles and work with a wide range of patients, including ICU, ER, stroke, trauma, and anesthesia cases.

Responsibilities

• Perform specialized MRI procedures and produce high-quality diagnostic images.
• Provide appropriate patient care before, during, and after MRI procedures.
• Apply MRI safety principles and protocols.
• Work independently while collaborating effectively with the healthcare team.
• Care for patients ranging from adolescents through geriatric patients.
• Handle complex cases, including vented patients and anesthesia cases.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of MRI experience
• Experience with patients from adolescent through geriatric populations
• ARRT registration required
• BLS certification required
• Successful completion of an accredited Radiography program
• Strong communication and patient-care skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred Qualifications

• MRI Registry
• Experience with GE 1.5T and GE 3T MRI equipment
• EPIC experience
• Visage PACS / Medicalis experience

Schedule & Call

• 4x10 Hour Evening Shift
• Regular schedule: Monday–Thursday, 2:30 PM–1:00 AM
• Facility may ask for a Tuesday–Friday schedule if needed, with advance notice.
• Weekend coverage may be required.
• Call: Approximately every 5th weekend, plus 2–3 call periods per two-week pay period as required by the facility.
• Evening-shift travelers will orient on day shift and must be available for the entire orientation week.

The MRI department performs studies on a broad patient population, including:

• ICU patients, including vented patients
• Emergency Department patients
• Stroke patients
• Trauma patients
• Anesthesia cases
• Outpatients
• Adolescent through geriatric patients

• GE 1.5T MRI
• GE 3T MRI
• EPIC
• Visage PACS
• Medicalis EMR

Dress Code

• Black scrubs — tops, bottoms, and jacket

Compliance

• Flu vaccination required from November 1 through April 1; Mercy-approved medical/religious exemptions are accepted.
• Flu declinations are not accepted.
• COVID-19 vaccination requirements should be confirmed during compliance.
