13-Week Contract | $35–$45/Hour

Phaxis is looking for an experienced Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) to join a fast-paced surgical team for a 13-week contract assignment.

What You'll Do

• Prepare the OR, instruments, equipment, and supplies for scheduled procedures
• Set up and maintain sterile fields throughout surgical cases
• Perform surgical hand scrubs and properly don sterile attire and gloves
• Anticipate the needs of surgeons and the surgical team throughout procedures
• Pass instruments, sutures, sponges, suction, electrosurgical equipment, and other supplies
• Maintain strict sterile and aseptic technique and follow infection-control standards
• Properly identify, handle, and prepare surgical specimens
• Assist with sterile dressing application and completion of procedures
• Assist with OR turnover, case preparation, and terminal cleaning
• Clean, process, sterilize, and properly store surgical instruments and equipment
• Maintain inventory and assist with stocking surgical supplies
• Follow OSHA, PPE, infection prevention, and patient-safety standards
• Support the orientation and training of new staff and students as needed
• Participate in quality improvement activities, staff meetings, and required training
• Maintain patient confidentiality and professional standards at all times

Surgical Environment

You may support a variety of surgical cases, including:

• Orthopedic procedures
• Plastic surgery
• Laser procedures
• Local procedures
• Other outpatient surgical cases

What We're Looking For

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification preferred
• Current CPR certification required
• Strong knowledge of sterile technique, surgical instrumentation, and OR procedures
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to anticipate the needs of the surgical team
• Strong organization and attention to detail
• Ability to stay calm and effective in a fast-paced surgical environment
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Commitment to patient safety and quality care

Physical Requirements

This role requires the ability to:

• Stand for extended periods during surgical procedures
• Lift, move, and transport patients as needed
• Lift and transport instrument trays and equipment weighing up to approximately 40 lbs.
• Safely handle surgical instruments and equipment
• Hear and respond to verbal instructions in the OR
• Accurately identify instruments, supplies, and surgical materials
