Description

Registered Nurse (RN) – ICU

 

Position Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) – ICU is responsible for delivering safe, coordinated, and patient-centered nursing care to patients in the Intensive Care Unit. The RN provides care to an assigned patient or group of patients in accordance with established standards of care and the nursing process.

The RN works collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare professionals while utilizing critical thinking, clinical judgment, professional discretion, and independent decision-making skills. The position may also involve supervising and directing assigned nursing staff to support effective patient care delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive and coordinated nursing care to assigned ICU patients.
  • Assess patient conditions and develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care.
  • Monitor patients closely and recognize changes in clinical condition.
  • Implement appropriate nursing interventions based on patient needs and established standards of care.
  • Collaborate with physicians and other interdisciplinary healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
  • Supervise and direct the activities of assigned nursing staff as appropriate.
  • Utilize critical thinking and independent clinical judgment in patient-care decisions.
  • Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation in the electronic medical record.
  • Promote patient safety, quality care, and compliance with hospital policies and standards.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and members of the healthcare team.

Position Requirements

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN) – ICU
  • Shift: Day Shift
  • Schedule: 3 × 12-hour shifts
  • Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
  • EPIC Experience: Required
  • Holiday RTO: Holiday RTO will not be approved.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN): Preferred
  • Acute Care Facility Experience: Preferred

Required Licensure & Certifications

  • Registered Nurse (RN) License: Required in the applicable state of practice
  • CPR or BLS Certification: Required from an approved vendor in accordance with AH policy

Facility-Specific Certification

  • BLS / HS-BLS / RQI BLS: Required

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a professional ICU Registered Nurse with strong clinical judgment, excellent assessment skills, and the ability to provide safe and coordinated care to critically ill patients. The candidate should be comfortable working collaboratively in a fast-paced acute-care environment while maintaining high standards of patient safety and nursing practice.
