🚫 Absolute Minimum Qualifications & Departmental Hardstops:

• Licensure Mandate: Active, unencumbered New York State (NYS) RN License ONLY held in hand at submission.
• Experience Baseline: Minimum 2+ years of dedicated Psychiatric Emergency Department (Psych ER) or High-Acuity Behavioral Health clinical RN experience.
• Mandatory Certifications Required:
  • Active AHA BLS ONLY (American Heart Association).
  • Proven Telemetry / Cardiac Monitoring proficiency (required for psychotropic medication monitoring and acute medical crisis stabilization).
• Schedule Non-Negotiable: Must agree to a 48-hour per week schedule and full D/E/N rotational shift coverage.
• Rate Guardrail Compliance: Strict Max Bill Rate Policy. Submissions above the maximum bill rate threshold will be automatically rejected.

Job Summary & Clinical Scope

A Hospital in Rochester, NY is seeking an experienced, high-acuity Psychiatric Emergency Room Registered Nurse (Level 1 RN Psych ER) for an intensive 48-hour/week contract assignment. Operating within a busy academic Level I Trauma center's Psychiatric Emergency Department, the RN will manage acute behavioral health crises, execute emergency intake assessments, interpret cardiac telemetry, and stabilize complex psychiatric and dual-diagnosis presentations.

• Psychiatric Emergency Triage & Intake: Conduct rapid intake assessments, mental status examinations (MSE), and diagnostic history interviews with patients, families, and emergency medical personnel.
• Psychopharmacology & Telemetry Monitoring: Administer acute psychotropic medications, manage rapid chemical de-escalation protocols, and continuously monitor telemetry and vital signs for adverse reactions or cardiac changes.
• Interdisciplinary Crisis Management: Collaborate closely with attending psychiatrists, psychiatric residents, emergency medicine staff, and social workers to design and execute immediate crisis treatment plans.
• Unit Safety & Administrative Operations: Maintain a safe care environment for patients and staff using trauma-informed de-escalation techniques; log complete clinical progress notes and documentation in the electronic medical record system.
