Respiratory Therapist - NICU in Nashville, TN
• Shift: 12 Hours Nights 6:30p-7a, (36 hrs/week)
• Start: 10/05 | Duration: 13+ weeks (possible extension)
• Travel Pay: $10/Hr on W2 + $1700 as Weekly Non-Taxable Stipend. Weekly Gross $2,060

NICU Respiratory Therapist (RT) – Level III
We are seeking an experienced NICU Respiratory Therapist (RT) to provide specialized respiratory care in a Level III NICU. This position requires a highly skilled therapist who is comfortable managing super high-acuity and critically ill neonates, including premature infants requiring advanced respiratory support and therapeutic cooling.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of recent NICU experience required
- Strong experience caring for high-acuity and critically ill neonates
- Therapeutic cooling experience required
- Must be comfortable independently managing complex neonatal respiratory patients
- Strong experience with premature and extremely low-birth-weight infants
- Previous travel experience preferred for traveler positions
Clinical Skills & Responsibilities
- Provide advanced respiratory care to premature, critically ill, and medically complex neonates
- Manage patients receiving invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation
- Experience with conventional ventilators and high-frequency ventilation (HFOV/HFJV)
- Manage CPAP, BiPAP/NIPPV, high-flow nasal cannula, and oxygen therapy
- Assist with intubation, extubation, airway management, and emergency stabilization
- Administer respiratory medications, aerosol treatments, and oxygen therapy as ordered
- Assist with surfactant administration
- Obtain and interpret arterial, capillary, and venous blood gases
- Adjust respiratory support based on patient condition, blood gases, and provider orders
- Participate in neonatal resuscitation and high-risk deliveries
- Provide respiratory support for neonates undergoing therapeutic hypothermia/cooling
- Recognize and respond rapidly to respiratory deterioration and neonatal emergencies
- Maintain and troubleshoot ventilators, respiratory equipment, and airway devices
- Collaborate closely with neonatologists, NICU nurses, and the multidisciplinary care team
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of respiratory treatments and patient responses
Required Certifications
- Active Respiratory Therapist license as required by the state
- RRT credential preferred
- BLS
- NRP
- Additional certifications may be required based on facility policy
