Description

Job Title: Registered Nurse - Emergency Room (ER RN)

VMS Req ID / Source: 70061 

Location: St. Luke's Downtown Hospital, Sioux City, Iowa (801 5th St)

Compensation & Schedule Details

  • Hours & Shift: 36–40 hours per week (Day shift). Overtime billable after 40 hours.
  • Contract Length: Travel contract (16 hours non-billable orientation).
  • Target Start Date: October 12, 2026 (Orientation dates: 10/12 or 10/26; rapid interview process via phone/text from a 405 area code).
  • Pay Add-ons: Overtime/holiday multiplier 1.15x; Call-back 1.5x (2-hour minimum); On-call $9/hr; Charge/Precept $6/hr.
  • Distance & Separation Rules: Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility based on driver's license (no local candidates). Separation Policy: Past UnityPoint Health (UPH) FTEs or PRN float pool employees who worked within the past 12 months cannot work travel in another market.

Key Facility Policies & Floating Rules

  • Unit Overview: Level III Trauma Center. Charting via Epic.
  • Floating: Travelers may be asked to float within the same discipline across local campuses.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience required. First-time travelers are welcome.
  • Licensure: Active Iowa (IA) RN license in hand.
  • Certifications: AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, AHA PALS, and TNCC are all strictly required at submission.
  • Submittal Packet: Must include work history/resume, discipline-specific skills checklist (within 1 year), 1 supervisory reference (within 2 years), driver's license, and copies of all required certifications.

Pros

Th recruiters are super nice and helpful.

Cons

Lack benefits and perks other companies offer. Was incorrectly paid more than once. The assignment was the worst I’ve experienced from management down to housekeeping. They nitpick travelers on every level and give them double the respiratory therapist to patient ratio with every assignment spread over multiple floors and areas on every side of the facility. Staff makes no attempt at teamwork. Bottom line: Malone is ok🥴 but has MUCH room to improve. Elizabethtown, KY is awful and puts their patients and your license at risk every shift. Don’t do it!
