Role: Cardiac Sonographer / Echo Tech

Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week

Shift Details: Days, 0800–1630 (8-Hour Shifts)

Required Qualifications & Certifications

• License: Required to submit
• Basic Life Support: Active BLS (AHA)
• Specialty Certification: RDCS-AE (Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer – Adult Echo) via ARDMS or RCS via CCI

Clinical Scope & Responsibilities

• Primary Duties: Perform non-invasive adult TTEs, set up and assist with TEEs, inject echo contrast agents, and conduct digital archival/retrieval per IAC standards.
• Secondary/Preferred Procedures: Stress echocardiograms, dobutamine stress echo, and low-volume pediatric echocardiograms.
• Daily Workload: Approximately 6–7 exams per 8-hour shift.
• First-Time Travelers: Accepted with prior adult TTE experience.
• Floating: No floating required.

Equipment, Tech & Environment

• Department Size: 5 Ultrasound Machines (3 Philips Epiq, 2 Philips iE33) across 3 outpatient rooms plus inpatient coverage.
• Systems: Meditech (EMR) and Merge (CPACS).
• IV Line Starts: Not required.
• Support: In-house Cardiologist during business hours (on-call after hours); Lead Sonographer on staff.
• Dress Code: Scrubs required; hospital provides scrubs, or techs may wear their own (no specific color restriction).

Scheduling, Call & Policies

• Scheduling: Monthly schedule posted 1 month in advance by the Lead Tech (No block scheduling; no self-scheduling).
• Weekend Requirements: On-call rotation only; no regularly scheduled weekend shifts.
• Call Coverage: Rotation every 4–6 weekdays and 4–6 weekends. Weekend call spans Friday end-of-shift to Monday 0700 with a 30-minute response time (High likelihood of call-in on weekends).
• Holiday Requirements: Yes, rotational holiday coverage required.
• Cancellation Policy: Facility may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment (or 3 shifts for contracts under 13 weeks).
• Orientation: Typically 1 day (extended if necessary).
