Description
Position Overview
Seeking experienced ICU Registered Nurses for a 20-bed Intensive Care & Coronary Care Unit (ICU/CCU). This role manages high-acuity critical care patients, including general ICU, neurosurgery, and advanced cardiac care populations, with floating required to IMCU (Stepdown) or Observation as needed.
Key Details
- Shifts: 12-Hour Shifts (07:00–19:30 or 19:00–07:30; self-scheduling offered but not guaranteed)
- Ratios: 1:2 (1:1 based on patient acuity)
- Weekends/Holidays: Every other weekend; holiday rotation integrated with permanent staff (typically 1 major / 1 minor)
- EMR: Cerner
- Dress Code: Navy Blue scrubs
- Orientation: 3 shifts of unit-specific orientation
Unit & Clinical Overview
- Patient Population: Neurosurgery (craniotomies, carotids, ventriculostomies, ICP monitoring), general ICU, open heart, post-cath lab, Impellas, and intra-aortic balloon pumps (IABP) for qualified travelers (No CRRT or ECMO)
- Drips & Vents: Mechanical ventilation; titrating critical care drips (Vasopressin, Levophed/Norepinephrine, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Propofol, Fentanyl, etc.)
- Telemetry & Support: Philips systems (No monitor tech; RNs read/interpret strips independently). 24/7 RT and Pharmacy support, dedicated Charge Nurse, shared Hospitalist/Intensivist coverage (on-call after hours), and Tech coverage (17:00–17:30 for blood draws/EKGs). No IV Team.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of ICU experience required; prior travel experience strongly preferred. General ICU background required; candidates with specialized Neuro or Cardiac ICU experience are highly encouraged.
- Certifications: Active BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS credentials
- Systems: Cerner proficiency preferred
