MA – Registered Nurse, Operating Room - Acute Care

Start Date: 9/21/2026
Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: Days — 4 × 10-hour shifts
Schedule: 6:30 AM–5:00 PM
Call: 6:30 am - 5:00 pm, on call required 1 night per week and weekends based on staffing needs
EMR: Meditech
Minimum Experience: Less than 1 year listed, but OR experience in acute care is strongly preferred

Key Requirements

• Active Massachusetts RN license
• Operating Room / OR nursing experience strongly preferred
• CNOR strongly preferred
• BLS required
• ACLS required, or active BLS with AHA ACLS obtained within 60 days of hire
• Strong communication and multitasking skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities

Core OR Responsibilities

• Provide perioperative nursing care before, during, and after surgical procedures
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, surgical technicians, and the clinical coordinator
• Maintain sterile fields and follow aseptic/sterile techniques
• Prepare and manage surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment
• Perform and document sponge, needle, and instrument counts
• Verify patient identity, consent, procedure, and surgical site
• Assist with safe patient positioning and transfers
• Handle, label, and document specimens and cultures appropriately
• Monitor patient safety and respond to emergencies
• Maintain accurate documentation and continuity of care

Candidate Fit – What to Prioritize

This is an OR RN position, so I would prioritize candidates with recent hands-on Operating Room experience over general acute-care RNs. A candidate with CNOR + BLS/ACLS + active MA RN license would be especially strong.
