Description

Locum – Thoracic Surgery Physician Assistant

Location: Boston, MA
Facility: Mass General Brigham
Specialty: Thoracic Surgery
Position: Locum
Start Date: 10/19/2026
Duration: 5–6 months
 

Schedule

  • 2–3 shifts per week
  • 12-hour night shifts
  • 6:30 PM–7:00 AM
  • Monday–Sunday
  • No call
  • 8-hour orientation (non-billable)

Clinical Details

  • Inpatient hospital setting
  • Adult & geriatric patients
  • 15–25 patients/shift, 25 max
  • Primarily post-op patients from Step-down, OR, and ICU
  • Solo coverage overnight
  • Thoracic Surgery fellow available for support
  • May perform H&Ps for outside-hospital transfers
  • Code team available; PA may be first responder until fellow arrives
  • Epic EMR

Required Experience/Skills

  • NCCPA certified
  • 1+ year experience
  • ACLS & BLS required
  • Thoracic Surgery experience preferred
  • Experience with:
    • Chest tubes
    • Blake drains
    • Pigtails
    • ABGs
    • NGT
    • G/J feeding tubes
