Compensation & Schedule Details

• Hours & Shift: 36 guaranteed hours per week (12-hour Nights, 1830–0700). 48-hour contracts available upon request (OT goes into effect after 52 hours on 48-hour contracts). Bi-weekly orientation starting November 2, 2026.
• Contract Length: 13 weeks.
• Weekend & Holiday Requirements: Every third weekend; every other holiday.
• Distance & Attendance Rules: Strict 40-mile radius rule (no local candidates). Maximum of 3 call-ins permitted before termination.

Key Facility Policies & Floating Rules

• Cross-Campus Floating: First to float within skillset. May float to Deaconess Newburgh campus (8 miles away) or Deaconess Midtown campus (11 miles away) with a 2-hour notice.
• Unit Scope & Ratios: 45-bed Med-Surg unit. Night shift ratios are 1:5–7 (Charge nurse takes a full assignment on nights). Patient population includes general Med-Surg (gallbladder, colectomy, appendectomy, joint replacements, ORIF, GI bleed, CHF, COPD, sepsis, respiratory). Charting via Epic (requires check-off class). Teaching facility—may require precepting of students and new hires. Navy blue scrubs required.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum 2 years of strong Med/Surg experience and 1 prior travel assignment required.
• Clinical Skills: PIV insertion, chest tube/indwelling drain management, continuous bladder irrigation (CBI), drip management (heparin, cardizem), PEGs/NGs, ostomy care, remote telemetry, blood product administration, and NIHSS/dysphagia screenings.
• Licensure: Active compact RN license in hand.
• Certifications: AHA BLS and NIHSS required at submittal.
