Respiratory Therapist (RRT)


Position: Respiratory Therapist
Shift: Days – 6:45 AM to 7:00 PM
Schedule: Full-Time
Contract Length: 13 Weeks

Work Schedule

Day Shift: 6:45 AM – 7:00 PM
Employment Type: Full-Time
Contract: 91 Weeks

Required Qualifications

Experience

  • 1–3 years of experience preferred.

License & Certifications

  • Active Texas RT or RCP License – Required
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) through NBRC – Required
  • BLS – AHA – Required
  • ACLS – AHA – Required
  • PALS – AHA – Required
  • NRP – Required
     

Responsibilities

  • Respond to emergency situations, including Code Blue and Code White.
  • Perform airway management, including nasotracheal and endotracheal suctioning.
  • Administer aerosolized medications.
  • Set up and operate mechanical ventilators.
  • Perform oral hygiene and airway care.
  • Place and maintain airway-retaining devices.
  • Manage airway support devices, including BiPAP and CPAP.
  • Administer oxygen therapy and monitor oxygen delivery devices.
  • Perform chest film analysis.
  • Collect and analyze arterial blood gases.
  • Perform EKG analysis.
  • Maintain accurate and complete patient documentation.
  • Clean, maintain, and stock respiratory equipment and supplies.
  • Participate in CAP and Joint Commission surveys.
  • May function as a Shift Leader or Team Leader.

Advanced Responsibilities

Depending on experience and competency, the RT may perform:

  • Therapeutic gas management and monitoring, including iNO and HeO₂.
  • Pulmonary Function Testing (PFT).
  • Bronchoscopy assistance.
  • Hemodynamic monitoring.
  • Waveform analysis.
  • Nocturnal SpO₂/desaturation studies.
  • Polysomnography.
  • Patient transport duties.
