Description

ICU Travel Nurse

Overview

  • 13-week travel assignment
  • Community hospital near Indianapolis, Indiana
  • 30-minute drive from Indianapolis

Unit Details

  • 12-bed combined CCU and PCU unit
  • Ratios: 1:2 in CCU; 1:3-4 in PCU
  • Charge nurse each shift; house supervisor nights and weekends
  • Nurse aides on the unit
  • Telemetry monitored; RNs read strips

Required Qualifications

  • ACLS
  • BLS
  • NIHSS
  • 2 years of experience preferred
  • RN license
  • Must be able to titrate drips

Clinical Experience / Patient Population

  • Sepsis
  • Respiratory distress
  • OD/ETOH withdrawal
  • DKA
  • Common drips: Levophed, insulin, dopamine, heparin
  • Respiratory equipment: vents, CPAP, BiPap, oximizer

Schedule

  • Nights
  • 12-hour shifts
  • 36 hours per week
  • Self-scheduling
  • Schedule posted 6 weeks in advance
  • Weekend requirement: 4 weekend shifts in a 6-week schedule
  • Holiday requirement: 1 major and 1 minor holiday during the contract
  • Generally placed on call if needed

Floating

  • May float to Medsurg
  • May float to ER only if experienced in ER

Orientation

  • 1 day of general facility orientation
  • 1-2 days on the unit

Dress Code

  • Navy blue scrubs
