NICU Respiratory Therapist (RT) – Level III NICU

Position: NICU Respiratory Therapist (RT) – Level III
Shift & Schedule: 6:30 PM–7:00 AM
Weekly Hours: 48
Contract Length: 13 weeks
 

Requirements

• Minimum 3–4 years of recent Level III NICU experience required.
• Strong experience caring for high-acuity and critically ill neonates.
• Therapeutic cooling experience required.
• Must be comfortable independently managing complex neonatal respiratory patients.
• Strong experience with premature and extremely low-birth-weight infants.
• Previous travel experience preferred for traveler positions.
• Active Respiratory Therapist license as required by the state.
• RRT credential required.
• BLS and NRP required.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced respiratory care to premature, critically ill, and medically complex neonates.
• Manage invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation.
• Operate conventional ventilators and high-frequency ventilation, including HFOV/HFJV.
• Manage CPAP, BiPAP/NIPPV, high-flow nasal cannula, and oxygen therapy.
• Assist with intubation, extubation, airway management, and emergency stabilization.
• Administer respiratory medications, aerosol treatments, and oxygen therapy.
• Assist with surfactant administration.
• Obtain and interpret arterial, capillary, and venous blood gases.
• Adjust respiratory support based on patient condition, blood gases, and provider orders.
