Registered Nurse (RN) - Med Surg Resource Team/Float Pool
Job Summary
The Med Surg Resource Team/Float Pool is seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. This position will involve providing comprehensive nursing care in a variety of medical-surgical units, with the opportunity to float between multiple locations within the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform head-to-toe assessments and develop individualized care plans.
- Administer medications via various routes and manage patient care documentation.
- Provide wound care, line management, and other nursing interventions as needed.
- Utilize Epic EMR for documentation and patient management.
- Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and collaborate with the healthcare team.
- Adapt to various medical surgical specialties including oncology, trauma, and cardiac care.
Shift Details
- 12-hour shifts.
- Every other weekend and holiday commitment required.
Qualifications
- Active RN license in North Dakota or a compact state.
- A minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, with at least 1 year in a medical-surgical setting. Experience in a float pool is preferred.
- BLS certification (must be AHA) and NIHSS certification required.
- Experience with Epic EMR is essential.
- Candidates must be willing to float between different medical-surgical units and manage varying patient volumes.
- Prior experience in a busy hospital with over 250 beds is preferred.
Training and Orientation
The selected candidate will undergo a comprehensive orientation process, which includes a full shift at a designated medical-surgical unit and a detailed overview of team expectations. Campus tours will also be conducted to familiarize the new employee with the various locations involved in the float pool.
Nurse to Patient Ratio
The nurse-to-patient ratio will be 1:4-5 during day shifts and 1:5-6 during night shifts.
Additional Information
All clinicians must badge in and out at the facility and adhere to the dress code by wearing navy blue scrubs during shifts. Note that travel restrictions apply; candidates living within a 60-mile radius will not be considered for this position, and local travel rates are applicable for those residing between 60 to 80 miles from the facility.
